Invitation: GREEN WE CAN - Pictures of an exhibition.

Cologne-based photographer Sabrina Rothe is showing photographs from last summer's one-day exhibition “GREEN WE CAN” in the Volksgarten, a park from the late 19th century in Düsseldorf. In June, over 30 artists transformed the park around the picturesque pond into an open-air gallery for a day. On the opening day of the photo exhibition, we will also be presenting a catalog that was created on the occasion of the one-day exhibition.

Düsseldorf's Volksgarten turns into an open-air gallery of contemporary art
GREEN WE CAN - Art for All in the Volksgarten is an open-air exhibition that will take place for the first time on June 4, 2023. Over 20 artists will transform the Volksgarten into a gallery. Showing art in a public city park has a special appeal: new connections between art and nature emerge. The works link up with new, exciting places and allow visitors to explore the show on their own.
Inspired by the artist Watteau: his painting Shipping to Kythera is an expression of a collective longing for paradise. The Art Walk is also intended to become an island to catch one's breath in the middle of the big city, far away from everyday worries. Visitors should immerse themselves in art and experience the special atmosphere of this green jewel. And there's something else that would be great: if the art show managed to raise awareness of the climate crisis, biodiversity and nature conservation - not with a raised forefinger, but with the power of awareness and the aesthetics of nature. In other words: GREEN WE CAN!
The art show gathers more than 20 works of international artists*, but also from the region. The objects will be presented at various locations around the picturesque pond. Installations, sculptures, sculptures, drawings, paintings, videos, artists' books, performances and sound works m
